December 2011 Grand Baymen Belize Newsletter

    Dear Friends of Grand Baymen

The fall was action packed here in Belize. The entire nation joyfully celebrated their 30th year of independence in September. There were a series of parades, competitions, events, and street dances. But, sadly, the beloved Father of Belize, the Right Honorable George Cadle Price, passed away a few days before the September 21st holiday. His passing added more poignancy to this landmark holiday.  The residents and citizens of this country became more aware and appreciative of the significant role he played in forming the independent nation of Belize...

October was, as usual, a slow month on Ambergris Caye.  But November saw a major turnaround.  Mike and I spent much of October in Florida, attending conferences.  We returned to San Pedro for back-to-back conferences on the island and in Belize City.  November was surprisingly busy on the island, and in San Pedro Town.  The holiday tourism season seems to be starting earlier each year...

    (PRWEB) August 31, 2011
ECI Development, Ltd., the Central American resort developer with a portfolio of properties in Belize, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, is expanding its Grand Baymen Communities on Ambergris Caye by breaking ground on a new, 14,600 sq. ft. condominium building.

Demonstrating the strength of demand for this type of permanent offshore residential experience, two-thirds of the units have already been sold. Individual units range from 720 sq. ft. to 1,070 sq. ft. in size.

The new condominium is part of Grand Baymen’s private, four-acre secure garden condominium community, named Baymen Gardens. At a time when many resort developers are struggling or in bankruptcy, Baymen Gardens is the only first class condominium space being built off-beach at values of $200 per sq. ft.

IMF Issues Favourable Statement on Belize Economy

Press Release - Belmopan - August 26, 2011 - A favourable statement on Belize was issued this week by the IMF which has just completed a review of our country’s economy.

According to the IMF, "Belize weathered the financial crisis relatively well, when compared with other countries in the Caribbean Community," It attributes expanding output in 2010 to activity in electricity, and wholesale and retail trade. It also notes that inflation for the entire year (2010) was zero, and rose only slightly to 0.9 percent in February of this year (2011).

"Growth in 2011 is being supported by expansion in the manufacturing and agriculture sectors, as well as an improvement in the terms of trade, allowing the stabilization of the foreign reserves cover at about 3 months imports of goods and services," says the IMF.
